HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical has announced a 3 cent/lb ($66/tonne) proposal for off-list price increase on oxo-alcohols n-butanol (NBA), isobutanol (IBA) and 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH), effective on 1 February, a market source said on Tuesday.
In December 13, Dow proposed price increases of 8 cents/lb for all three oxo-alcohols, to be effective on 1 January.
The company has not specified if the latest increase is in addition to the 8 cent/lb increase, or a retreat from the previous announcement.
However, a source said that the latest announcement was likely to be in addition to the previous price increase, as producers have not been backing off from price increases this month.
ICIS-assessed contract prices are 88-95 cents/lb for NBA, 125-130 cents/lb for NBA and 100-102 cents/lb for 2-EH.
