HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butyl acetate (butac) distributor prices tightened Tuesday, with the low end of the range increasing 1 cent/lb.

ICIS-assessed distributor prices narrowed to a range of 90.00-93.00 cents/lb ($1,984-2,050/tonne).

The movement comes as several butac producers made separate price increase announcements this week for 1 February. Oxea on Monday made a 3 cent/lb announcement, while Dow Chemical made a 3 cent/lb announcement on Tuesday.

Those announcements were in addition to separate 1 January announcements made by producers.

Sources on Tuesday said that sentiment in the market was that butac was likely to see more increases towards the end of January.

Major butac producers are Oxea, Dow Chemical and Eastman Chemical.
