LONDON (ICIS)--Exports of toluene out of the EU more than doubled in November 2013 compared to the same period in the previous year, data from European statistics agency Eurostat showed on Tuesday.

Imports into the EU during the same period were down, but the volumes involved were negligible in comparison and not indicative of any wider structural trend in the market.

Europe was the lowest global region in terms of toluene spot pricing throughout November 2013, supporting a sharp increase in exports from the previous year.

Exports from the EU in November 2013 were also up from the previous month.

The European toluene market was an export-driven one in 2013: the first half of the year saw a 41% increase in exports compared to H1 2012, and this trend continued towards the end of the year.
