TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s domestic shipments of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin declined by 6% month on month to 18,875 tonnes in December 2013, official data from an industry association showed on Wednesday.
This is, however, a 9% increase from the same time a year earlier, according to the Nihon ABS Jushi Kogyokai (Japan ABS resin industry association).
The country’s exports of ABS resin stood at 10,331 tonnes, down by 1% from the previous month, but increased by 9% from the previous year, based on the data.
Among domestic shipments’ total, shipments of ABS resin for automotive production fell by 5% month on month to 7,243 tonnes, but increased by 9% year on year, according to the association.
ABS shipments for manufacturing electric appliances declined by 7% from the previous month to 2,310 tonnes, but rose by 25% from the year earlier, the data showed.
