CAMPINAS, Brazil (ICIS)--Brazil contractor Odebrecht is analysing the possibility of investing in a plastic transforming enterprise in Cuba, the company said on Thursday.
Odebrecht “realises studies of technical, economic feasibility for the creation of an enterprise in the area of plastic transforming in Mariel, Cuba", the company said in a statement.
According to the group, other Brazilian companies are also seeking to invest in the project.
On Wednesday, a Brazil minister said that it signed a protocol of understanding with the government of Cuba and Odebrecht to conduct a feasibility study to build chemical plants in the area of Mariel port.
Odebrecht has not disclosed what kind of plastic transforming enterprise it would develop or how much it would invest.
Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade did not return a request by ICIS for comment.
