US methanol imports rose 8% on more shipments from top sources - ITC

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US methanol imports in 2013 rose by 8% on shipments from Trinidad and three other top sources, according to data from the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Monday.

Trinidad, long the top source, provided 66% of US imports and more than half of the gain for the year. Venezuela accounted for about 20% of American imports, Equitorial Guinea 5%, Canada 4% and Bahrain about 2%.

Major North American methanol sellers include Methanex, OCI, LyondellBasell and Southern Chemical Corp.
