HOUSTON (ICIS)--Huntsman is taking down its ethane cracker in Port Neches, Texas, which should cost the company $8m-9m in the first quarter, the CEO said on Tuesday.

Peter Huntsman did not say how long the cracker would be down.

The plant has an ethylene capacity of 193,000 tonne/year, according to ICIS plants and projects.

Huntsman did not explain why the company is taking down the plant.

Earlier in 2013, the company announced plans to increase the cracker's capacity by about 10%.
