US December TiO2 exports rise 13% year over year - ITC

HOUSTON (ICIS)--North American titanium dioxide (TiO2) exports in December 2013 increased by 13% over the same month of 2012, amid ongoing seasonally soft demand, sources said on Tuesday.

According to US International Trade Commission (ITC) data, TiO2 exports totalled 50,163 tonnes, up from 44,510 tonnes in December 2012. The bulk of that domestic material was shipped to Belgium (10,377 tonnes) and China (9,119 tonnes).

December imports were also up, reaching 13,070 tonnes in December versus 8,375 tonnes one year ago. Most material was from Germany and Canada.

North American TiO2 producers include DuPont, Cristal, Kronos, Tronox and Huntsman.
