SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan's Mitsui Chemicals will shut its 450,000 tonne/year Osaka cracker on 19 June for maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.
The unit is running at high rates of close to 95% capacity in order to build up stocks before the turnaround, which is scheduled to be completed on 31 July, the source said.
Meanwhile, Mitsui Chemicals’ olefins conversion unit (OCU) at Osaka is running at low levels of 70% because of weak economics, the source said. The facility can produce around 120,000 tonnes/year of propylene.
