TORONTO (ICIS)--Encana aims to further boost its production of liquids – including natural gas liquids (NGL), condensates and oil – this year, while slightly reducing output of lower-value natural gas, the Canada-based energy major said in an update on Thursday.

Canada’s largest natural gas producer said it was aiming at a 30% year-over-year increase in 2014 in liquids output. Output averaged 53,900 bbl/day in 2013, when the company’s liquids output rose 74% from 2012.

Encana said that the further development of liquids would bring higher margins and improved netbacks.
