SINGAPORE (ICIS)--India’s Reliance Industries plans to shut its 600,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) line at Jamnagar in Gujarat state in middle of March for its annual maintenance, a source familiar with the matter said on Friday.
Maintenance works at the plant is estimated to take around 45 days, the source added.
Reliance can produce around 1.7m-1.8m tonne/year of PX.
“The company’s downstream purified terephthalic acid (PTA) production will not be affected as this is a planned shutdown, with sufficient feedstock PX already stored,” the source added.
