EU propylene glycol imports rise sharply in 2013, exports down

LONDON (ICIS)--Imports of propylene glycol (PG) into the EU rose significantly in 2013 compared to 2012 while exports saw a large decline, data from statistics agency Eurostat showed on Wednesday.

Year on year imports went up by 58% to 26,584 tonnes while exports fell by 18% to 69,215 tonnes.

Eurostat data for PG include monopropylene glycol (MPG) and propylene glycol ethers. However, the agency was unable to specify which other derivatives are included under this heading.
