MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Thai producer PTT Phenol on Wednesday shut down its phenol/acetone plant at Map Ta Phut in Rayong province for a turnaround, a company source said.

The plant, which can produce 200,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 124,000 tonnes/year of acetone, will undergo maintenance until early April, the source said.

PTT Phenol brought forward its turnaround from 1 March because its affiliate PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) halted feedstock propylene output on 17 February to carry out mechanical repairs.

PTT Phenol, the sole phenol/acetone maker in Thailand, plans to restart its unit on 4 April, the source added.
