SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Asahi Glass Co had shut down one of its three caustic soda plants for maintenance in the week ended 21 February, a company source said on Wednesday.
The facility is located in Ichihara and has a nameplate capacity of 200,000 dmt/year, the source added.
Asahi Glass Co plans to restart the plant in the week ended 21 March, the source said.
Caustic soda is an inorganic compound that is most commonly used as a strong base in the manufacture of paper and pulp as well as in the textile industry.
