SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s East China Engineering Science and Technology Co (ECEC) has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Inner Mongolia Connell Chemical Industry for the construction of the latter’s 300,000 tonne/year coal-based ethylene glycol (EG) unit, on 10 March, ECEC said in a statement released late on Tuesday.
The contract duration will last 22 months, with a provisional total cost of yuan (CNY) 3.7bn ($603m), according to the statement.
Under the contract, the construction work on the unit, which is located at Tongliao in Inner Mongolia, is expected to be completed in September 2015, and test runs also will be carried out at the meantime, the statement said.
On-spec products are expected to be achieved in November 2015, while the first performance evaluation is expected to be in December next year, it added.
The unit is the first phase of a 600,000 tonne/year coal-based EG project by Inner Mongolia Connell Chemical Industry.
Inner Mongolia Connell Chemical Industry is a joint venture between Jilin Connell Chemical Industry (51%) and Jilin Coal Group (49%).
