SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Tasco Chemical Corp’s newly expanded 35,000 tonne/year maleic anhydride (MA) plant in Kaohsiung has gone on stream on 17 March after having conducted two weeks of trial runs, a company source said late on Thursday.
The unit’s run rate would be gradually ramped up to 90-100% and the company will start offering its material for commercial sales once the production stabilises, the source said.
The unit’s current run rate was not immediately specified.
The plant’s additional output is meant for commercial sales in Taiwan's domestic market, with any excess supply to be exported, the source added.
The plant was taken off line on 17 February for regular maintenance and expansion works.
Its capacity was increased by 10,000 tonnes/year from 25,000 tonnes/year during the three-week turnaround, the source said.
Tasco Chemical is one of the four major MA producers in Taiwan.
