SINGAPORE (ICIS)--India’s Mitsubishi Chemical Corp is currently running both its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) units located at Haldia in West Bengal, India at full capacity, a company source said on Friday.

The company operates a 470,000 tonne/year PTA unit and an 800,000 tonne/year PTA unit.

The 800,000 tonne/year PTA unit was shut on 1 February for a scheduled maintenance and was restarted in the earlier part of the week, the source said.

According to several market participants, the restart at the PTA unit will most likely help to lessen the tight supply faced in the country since the start of the month.
