LONDON (ICIS)--DSM will halt production at its 250,000 caprolactam (capro) plant in Geleen, the Netherlands, for an expected three weeks of planned maintenance from early May, a company source confirmed on Wednesday.
European capro supply in the second quarter is expected to be tight because of a heavy turnaround schedule. UBE Chemical Europe will halt production at its 97,000 tonne/year caprolactam (capro) plant in Castellon, Spain, for one month of maintenance in May, a company source confirmed last week. A third European producer is also planning maintenance during the second quarter, but the exact dates and duration of the outage are yet to be set.
European demand is increasing as buyers stockpile material in anticipation of the turnarounds.
