China’s Q1 vehicles sales grow 9.2% to 5.92m units

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s vehicles sales in the first quarter increased 9.2% year on year to 5.92m units, with sales of passenger cars rising by 10.1% to 4.87m units, official industry data showed on Friday.

The first quarter’s vehicles production increased 9.2% year on year to 5.89m units, while the output of passenger cars rose by 9.5% to 4.80m units, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) data indicated.

Vehicles production and sales both reached new highs in March.

March’s vehicles sales increased by 6.6% year on year to 2.17m units, while production surged 5.6% to 2.2m units, it said.

China is the world’s biggest car market at present.
