Houghton Expands Wintrex
Houghton Chemical Corporation is expanding the production of its
Wintrex (ethylene glycol) and Safe-T-Therm (propylene glycol) heat
transfer fluids. Production will be subcontracted to the Vancouver,
Wash.-based ST Services to provide inventory for Pacific Northwest
customers. Previously inventory had been shipped to the area from
California or the Midwest. The Boston-based Houghton has
experienced about 20 percent growth in the last five years and is
seeking regional chemical distributors throughout the country. The
Portland addition brings the company's total to nine terminals
worldwide.
Aventis Behring Formed
Aventis Behring LLC, formerly known as Centeon LLC, has been
formed following the merger of Hoechst AG and RhÖne-Poulenc
SA. Centeon represented a 50-50 joint venture between the two
companies. Aventis Behring manufactures and supplies the plasma
protein industry with coagulation therapies, immuno-globulins,
plasma expanders and wound healing products.
Southchem to Distribute Royco
Royal Lubricants Inc.'s complete line of Royco synthetic
lubricant products will be distributed in the Southeast by the
Durham, N.C.-based Southchem, Inc., effective immediately.
Southchem is a subsidiary of Brenntag, Inc.
Horn to Represent Indspec
Indspec Chemical's hydroxyethyl ether of resorcinol-derived
resorcinolic diols will be distributed on the West Coast by E.T.
Horn, Co., a La Mirada, Calif.-based distributor. Indspec's
resorcinolic diols are available in a variety of grades.
ALAC's Customer Center
To better serve its customers in the Gulf Coast area who rely on
Air Liquide America Corporation (ALAC) for oxygen, nitrogen, carbon
dioxide and other industrial gases, the company has opened a new
regional customer center in Baton Rouge, La. The new 30,000 square
foot center will combine a retail store, customer service and
transfill and distribution facilities, and is part of a $160
million investment in Louisiana.
Dow Awarded
Dow Chemical Company received third place in the second annual
Swift-E Awards, and was the only chemical company to place in the
top 10. The award, sponsored by Internet software supplier
Brightware, recognizes the top 10 companies among the Fortune 100
for their excellence in e-customer service.
Shell's Inventory Monitoring
Shell Services International Group of Companies (SSI) has signed
an agreement with Controlsat naming that company as the preferred
global provider of tank telemetry services supporting SSI's
supplier inventory management order network. The agreement enables
the companies to jointly provide customers with a totally
automated, cost-effective, reliable supplier-managed inventory
solution.
