SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--IJM’s joint venture with CTI to set up a biodiesel unit in east Malaysia is on track and is expected to start production by the end of 2007, a company spokesman said on Thursday.

The unit, located in Sandakan, Sabah, will produce 90,000 tonnes/year of methyl ester when complete, the IJM spokesman said.

IJM will provide crude palm oil feedstock for the unit while CTI will provide the technology needed to harness biodiesel from it.

The company declined to disclose the value of investments going into the project.
