Ineos buys ICI's chlor-alkali units
ICI is to sell its stake in the EVC, chlor-chemicals, Klea and
Crosfield businesses to Ineos in a deal which values the assets at
£325m ($466m/Euro533m). The deal is expected to be completed
in January.
European soda ash makers seek hikes
In Europe soda ash producers are seeking a Euro12/tonne price
hike for 2001 contracts. This could lift prices to
Euro147-161/tonne, a level still low enough to discourage US
imports.
Synetix unveils new titanium catalyst
Synetix's new titanium catalyst for polyester production can
increase yields by 15% compared with existing antimony catalysts.
The catalyst is supplied as a water-stable, glycol-soluble
