SINGAPORE (CNI)--Indonesia’s Justus Sakti Raya will shut its 14 000 tonne/year maleic anhydride (MA) plant in Jakarta for three to four weeks next month due to the high costs of benzene feedstock, CNI was told on Friday.
A company official said that the benzene, which the company imports, was too costly to make operations viable. He said the shutdown would start in early April and would likely last for three weeks or a little longer.
Minor maintenance would be carried out during the shutdown, he noted. The plant is currently running at about 80% of its operating capacity.
The company started its MA plant in 1998 and about 70% of its production is exported.
