SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery Company (SASREF) is to shut down units at its 305,000 bbl/day Al-Jubail refinery in March 2008 for scheduled maintenance, an industry source said on Thursday.

SASREF is set to shut down its 150,000 bbl/day crude distillation unit (CDU) No 1 and an aromatics complex at the refinery, which is located on Saudi Arabia’s Gulf coast.

In March, the company shut down its CDU No 2 and a 45,000 bbl/day hydrocrcaker for a month-long scheduled shutdown.

SASREF is a 50:50 joint venture of Saudi Aramco and Shell. The refinery runs Arabian light crude supplied by Saudi Aramco.

Benzene from the refinery’s aromatic complex is supplied to styrene production facilities operated by Saudi Arabia Petrochemical Company (SADAF), a 50:50 joint venture of Saudi Basic Industries Corp and Shell Chemicals.
