MILAN (ICIS news)--US biocatalyst producer Codexis has released four new panels, the company said on Tuesday at CPhI Worldwide 2007.

“This is an application of a technology that can do almost any bioavailability transformation. If you have an enzyme, it’s proven that we can do it,” said Peter Seufer-Wasserthal, vice president and general manager, Codexis Pharma Services Group.

The release follows an earlier launch of another panel, Codex KRED, in February, the company said.

Customers have used Codex KRED to move target compounds from initial screening to generating initial kilogram quantities of material within weeks. This is considered a significant reduction in development time, said Seufer-Wasserthal.

Further, data from these biocatalyst panels can be integrated early on in the research process. This can also substantially reduce the time for pharmaceutical process chemists to generate a cost-effective, efficient biocatalyst for any given desired reaction.
