LONDON (ICIS news)--Saudi Arabian fertilizer producer Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) will close its Safco IV plant in Al-Jubail this week for planned maintenance work, a company source said on Wednesday.
The unit, which has a capacity of 1.1m tonnes/year of granular urea, will be shut down this week for around a month. Exact dates were not disclosed.
SABIC said its contract customers would not be impacted by the work as it was scheduled and had been prepared for in advance.
SABIC was fully committed for the first quarter of 2008, shipping to destinations including Pakistan, the US and Thailand, the source said.
Other Middle Eastern fertilizer producers include Kuwait’s Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) and the United Arab Emirates’ Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (Fertil).
