Perstorp invests in potassium formate and di-TMP

STOCKHOLM (ICIS news)--Perstorp is investing €9m ($14m) in potassium formate production, the Swedish specialty chemicals company said on Friday.
“This is a good market for us, and it is growing,” Perstorp market manager Mats Persson told ICIS news.
Potassium formate is used in the oil industry where it helps maximise oil extraction from wells. Another growing use is as de-icing agent on airport runways.
Perstorp wll continue production of sodium formate at its south Swden site, with the flexibility to switch between the two products.
In another investment of similar size, Perstorp is increasing capacity by 1 000 tpy for di-trimethylol propane (di-TMP), an ultraviolet-curing additive.
