Jan US chloroform exports drop 62% year-on-year

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--The US exported 6,339 tonnes in January, down 62% from the same month one year earlier, according to data released this week by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
Exports in January were also 56% less than the 14,319 tonnes shipped in December.
South Korea was the top export destination for US chloroform in January and received 58% of shipments for the month, followed by Mexico at 30% and Argentina at 12%, the ITC said.
Export spot prices for US chloroform were assessed at 45-48 cents/lb ($992-1,058/tonne or €634-677/tonne) FOB (free on board) USG (US Gulf) during the week ended 4 March, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
