SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Yangzi Petrochemical, a Sinopec subsidiary in the eastern city of Nanjing, shut down its aromatics unit yesterday for a 40-day scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.
The unit produces 490,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 200,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 850,000 tonnes/year of xylene.
The turnaround would have little impact on the market supply as other petrochemical producers will provide cargoes normally, the source said.
Prices of benzene, toluene and xylene were pegged at yuan (CNY) 9,100-9,150/tonne ($1,293-1,300/tonne), CNY8,450/tonne and CNY7,900/tonne ex-tank east China respectively, traders said.
