SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japanese cracker operator Sanyo Petrochemical, is running its cracker in Mizushima at 100% after encountering a technical hitch shortly after restarting the facility following a scheduled turnaround, a company source said on Wednesday.

Sanyo had shut down its 470,000 tonnes/year cracker in Mizushima on 10 March for a turnaround and restarted the unit on Sunday, as scheduled. However the facility encountered a technical hitch which prevented the cracker from running at full operation rate.

Tosoh, another Japanese cracker operator, was also having a turnaround at its 527,000 tonnes/year cracker in Yokkaichi, which was scheduled to restart on 18 April.

Nearly four crackers will be shut down simultaneously in May and June, marking the peak of the heavy turnaround period for Asian crackers.
