LONDON (ICIS news)--Major Spanish purified terephthalic acid (PTA) producer Interquisa will resume production at its San Roque site on Monday 23 June following a lengthy outage, a company source said on Friday.
"We received the necessary parts to complete repairs earlier than expected, so we hope to restart on Monday. We plan to lift force majeure on 1 July," added the source.
Force majeure had been declared at the end of April after one of the two PTA lines went down unplanned at the site, which has a nameplate capacity of 800,000 tonnes/year, according to ICIS plants and projects.
The other line had continued running.
The comments support market feedback received on Thursday.
In related news, Interquisa, to be merged with other CEPSA subsidiaries into CEPSA Quimica, announced a €50/tonne ($77/tonne) target increase on isophthalic acid (IPA) from 1 July, citing major cost pressure.
One of the uses of IPA is in the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
