LANXESS South Africa site manager murdered

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Johan Lotter, site manager LANXESS' South African site Merebank near Durban, was murdered together with his wife on 19 July, the company said.

"It is with dismay that we learned today of this shocking deed. We are deeply troubled and will work with the authorities in South Africa for successful resolution," said Axel C Heitmann, chairman of the management board at LANXESS AG.

Johan Lotter who had been in Merebank since 1990, first worked for the production sector and then as the site manager since the mid-1990s, the statement added.

LANXESS produces high-value leather chemicals and rubber chemicals in South Africa at five locations including Merebank.
