SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Kemira said has acquired a water treatment chemicals company in China as part of its expansion strategy in the country, the Finland-based specialty chemicals group said on Wednesday.
Kemira will take over the assets of Zibo Huaqing Water Purifying Products Co, which produces polyaluminum chloride (PAC) - 20,000 tonnes/year of solid material and 30,000 tonnes/year in liquid form.
Zibo Huaqing, based in eastern Shandong province, also produces iron-based coagulants.
Kemira will aim to increase PAC production capacity after acquisition as it intends to move beyond Zibo Huaquing’s core client base in industrial water treatment, and cater to the municipal sector.
Kemira has been in the Chinese water treatment market since 1999 and has a presence in more than 30 countries.
