LONDON (ICIS news)--LANXESS has started production at a new pelletising plant for ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) rubber in Marl, Germany, the specialty chemicals producer said on Wednesday.
The new facility has capacity to produce 3-5 tonnes of pellets per hour, opening up new market opportunities in the cable industry and for thermoplastic olefins (TPO), it said.
LANXESS said TPOs were characterised by high impact strength, an advantage in the manufacture of automotive bumpers and transport containers.
The new products would be on the market in the fourth quarter, it added.
