SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korea’s largest polypropylene (PP) producer Honam Petrochemical will continue to run its facilities at Yeosu and Daesan at 80% capacity in October due to weak demand, a company source said.
The facilities, consisting of a unit with 380,000 tonnes/year of capacity at Yeosu and two lines with a combined capacity of 550,000 tonnes/year at Daesan, had been running at the reduced rates since September.
The latter facilities are operated by Honam's sister company Lotte Daesan.
"We expect demand to improve by October end as most of our customers said they have low inventories," the source said.
However, if the demand did not improve, the producer would continue to operate at reduced rates in November too, he added.
