Austria's Borealis completes extended melamine shutdown at Linz

ICIS News : 31-Jul-13 10:25

LONDON (ICIS)--Austria-headquartered Borealis has restarted its 50,000 tonne/year melamine facility in Linz, following an extended shutdown that began at the end of May, a source from the company said on Wednesday.

“We restarted in the middle of July,” the source said.

The producer underwent an extended shutdown for a revamp of the Linz facilities, and the plant is now running at full rates, but stock levels are low.

“Production is running smoothly again,” the source added. “Our stock levels are quite low and will stay low for the rest of the quarter, and until early into the fourth quarter.”

Borealis also has an 80,000 tonne/year facility in Piesteritz, Germany, which brings the company's total melamine nameplate capacity to 130,000 tonnes/year.
