Borealis sells melamine process technology to Urea Casale

ICIS News : 1-Oct-13 14:25

LONDON (ICIS)--Borealis has sold its melamine high-pressure process technology and all related intellectual property rights to Urea Casale for an undisclosed sum, the Austria-based chemicals major said on Tuesday.

“The divestment follows an earlier strategic decision by the company to focus on the melamine business and production, and to exit the melamine licensing activity,” said Markku Korvenranta, Borealis executive vice president, base chemical.

Borealis added that its melamine production sites and Linz, Austria, and Piesteritz, Germany, will not be affected by the divestment.

Switzerland-based Urea Casale is described as a global leader in the design and refurbishment of urea plants. It belongs to the Casale Group, a firm that designs and refurbishes ammonia and methanol plants.
