ICIS News : 21-Jun-13 20:55
HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based Dow Chemical began the restart process at its No. 7 Freeport cracker in Texas on Friday, according to a government filing.
In a report with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), the company said flaring occurred during the unit start-up on Friday.
A company spokesperson declined to comment on the restart process, but said the unit was not online as of Friday afternoon.
The company shut down the cracker, which has 612,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity, on 1 April for planned maintenance.
Sources said the turnaround was expected to last 60 days, but was delayed.
