LONDON (ICIS)--Beaulieu Nylon on Tuesday declared force majeure on nylon 6 (or polyamide 6) following a fire at its 40,000 tonne/year polymerisation unit in Kruishoutem, Belgium, a company source said.
The fire broke out on Monday afternoon, affecting 50% of Beaulieu’s nylon 6 production capacity. The plant is expected to restart in 3-4 weeks, the company source said.
“We are declaring force majeure due to a fire yesterday afternoon. For the time being we are out 50% capacity...There have been no casualties and the plant has been saved due to correct intervention of the operators. We estimate it will take 3-4 week to restart the plant,” the company source said.
Beaulieu Nylon is a subsidiary of Belgotex International Group.
