Nippon Shokubai to shut MA plant for maintenance in end-March
ICIS News : 1-Feb-13 02:18
SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japanís Nippon Shokubai plans to shut its 35,000 tonne/year maleic anhydride (MA) plant at Himeji for scheduled maintenance from end-March until April, a company source said on Friday.
The exact dates of the shutdown have not been decided, the source said.
The shutdown will last around one month and Nippon Shokubai will build up its inventory prior to the shutdown so that supply will not be affected during the period, the source said.
The MA plant is operating at 70% capacity currently, after being restarted on 10 January following an unplanned shutdown in end-September 2012, the source added.
The operating rate of the MA plant will be gradually increased to full capacity in February, the source added.
Operations at the MA plant were suspended in late September last year, following an explosion that occurred at the company's acrylic acid (AA) and superabsorbent polymer (SAP) facilities at the site.
