MOSCOW (ICIS)-- Russia-based Titan group has started operation of a new 180,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant, the company said in a statement released on Tuesday.
The plant, under the name PolyOm, produced its first 500 tonnes of PP, the company said.
The project's supervising companies, Basell, JSW and Italian engineering and construction company Tecnimont, took part in the launch of the plant, Titan added without disclosing more details.
The plant, based in Omsk, western Siberia, was initially expected onstream by the end of 2006, but has been subject to severe delays because of financing issues.
In June 2012, the Omsk regional government voiced expectations that the PP plant would start operation in July. However, there were more delays in the second half of 2012.
