Japan's shipments of oriented PP film increase by 3.4% in January

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s domestic shipments of oriented polypropylene (PP) film rose by 3.4% year on year to 15,836 tonnes in January, official data from the Japan Polypropylene Film Industry Association showed on Friday.
Among the total, 12,238 tonnes were used for food packaging, a 5.4% increase from the same time a year earlier, while shipments for industrial purposes fell by 5.2% to 2,525 tonnes, based on the statistics.
Exports of oriented PP decreased by 9.1% to 361 tonnes, the data showed.
The country’s domestic shipments of cast PP film stood at 10,484 tonnes in January, a 0.2% decline from the year-before period, while exports decreased by 11% to 314 tonnes, according to the association.
