ICIS News : 8-Mar-13 20:02
CAMPINAS, Brazil (ICIS)--Brazilian petrochemical producer Braskem plans to buy naphtha in Vienna, Austria, as a way to be closer to suppliers from Europe and northern Africa, a spokesperson confirmed on Friday.
About 70% of the naphtha Braskem uses comes from Petrobras. The rest comes from the Mediterranean region, mainly from northern Africa, and other countries, including Venezuela, Argentina and Mexico.
Braskem said a team will be transferred to Austria and will work for Braskem International, a company created in February 2012 for this kind of purpose.
In Europe, Braskem is present in Germany, where it has two polypropylene (PP) plants acquired in 2011 from Dow Chemical, and in Holland, with an office that commercialises PP and polyethylene (PE).
