ICIS pricing price quotations are based on information gathered from a wide cross-section of the market, comprising consumers, producers, traders and distributors. Confirmed deals, verified by both buyer and seller, are sought to provide the foundation of price assessments in the weekly reports. In ICIS pricing the price range includes confirmed, rumoured or reported deals heard in the market. ICIS pricing may exclude certain prices from assessments if they are negotiated in unusual circumstances or if specific conditions are thought to apply. ICIS Chemical Business sources its news and features coverage of world chemicals events from a wide variety of sources. These include direct contact with people in the chemicals industry – either by telephone or face to face; press releases and formal briefings from companies; items in other publications and on the Internet; industry conferences, seminars and exhibitions; information from analysts, financial institutions, consultants, government and regulatory bodies, trade associations, NGOs and environmental pressure groups; and not least from company websites and visits to plants and sites. We also use our own extensive archives of information and data.

  • What is CSV? (What does it do?)

The CSV ('Comma Separated Value') file format is often used to exchange data between different applications. Downloading data in CSV format enables data to be exported into Microsoft Excel.

  • When I download CSV, all the data is in one column. Why?

The data is downloaded in CSV format which means 'comma separated variable'.

Opening this format in Excel should result in the data being separated into columns using the commas as separators; however this depends on your version of Excel.

You can manually sort the data into columns by selecting column A and then:

  • On the Excel toolbar choose 'Data' and then 'Text to Columns'
  • Select 'Delimited' then click 'Next'
  • Ensure that comma is ticked then click 'Next'
  • Then click 'Finish'

You may find the problem is permanently resolved by changing the Regional options via 'Control panel' on your PC: Please ensure that the list separator is set to ',' (comma)
