Clariant is a global speciality chemicals company that also manufactures intermediates and active ingredients for the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries. The company has four divisions: Textile, Leather and Paper Chemicals; Pigments and Additives; Masterbatches; and Functional Chemicals.
Clariant intends to expand its presence in growing markets such as China and India. Its strategy is to strengthen its fast-growing, service driven businesses through acquisitions that supplement its portfolio.
Although Clariant believes that it is heading in the right direction but it isn’t “where it wants to be”. On this basis, the company will focus on three main areas: Clariant versus the industry, Clariant as seen by its customers and Clariant as seen by its employees. The company also believes that it needs to significantly improve its performance and has launched its “Clariant 2010 – Launching world-class performance” strategy.
Clariant says it will build its strengths in colours, surfaces and performance chemicals by focusing its investments on businesses where it can offer added value through application technology, advice and solutions.
Headquartered in Muttenz near Basel, Switzerland, Clariant generated sales of approximately SF7bn in 2010, and had around 16,176 employees.
