DSM is active in nutritional and pharma ingredients, performance materials and industrial chemicals. Its products are used in a wide range of end-markets and applications. DSM's activities are grouped into four clusters: Nutrition, Pharma, Performance Materials and Industrial Chemicals.

DSM's new strategy will focus on accelerated growth and expansion of the specialty content of its portfolio, accelerated innovation, and expansion in emerging economies. The overall objective of the strategy is “strong value creation” by market-driven growth

and innovation, increased presence in emerging economies and operational excellence.

 

DSM intends to grow its sales in four emerging business areas; personalised nutrition, specialty packaging, biomedical materials and white/industrial biotechnology. It also intends to further grow the specialty content of its portfolio.

 

The company plans to continue the trend of improving its globally balanced presence by accelerating the internationalisation of its asset base and workforce. DSM has been focussing on China and India and it has also started investigating future possibilities in Russia.

 

DSM has sales of over Euro9bn and around 23,500 employees (2008) with headquarters in Heelen, The Netherlands.
