Hexion Specialty Chemicals is a producer of binder, adhesive, coating and ink resins for industrial applications as well as one of the largest producer of thermosetting resins. Hexion is structured into two primary segments: Adhesive and Structural, and Coating. Hexion Logo (Source: Hexion)

 

Hexion continues the process of integrating the operations of Borden Chemical, Resolution Performance, Resolution Specialty and Bakelite. To ensure the integration of the four businesses it states that it will need to continue to focus on realising anticipated synergies and cost savings on a timely basis while maintaining the efficiency of its operations.

 

Hexion will focus on developing new products that will make it more competitive. It will remain aware of competition from other chemical companies as well as competition from producers of materials that are substitutes for formaldehyde-based resins.

 

With headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, US, Hexion employs around 6,800 people and had sales of $6bn in 2008.
