Huntsman is a global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals. Huntsman's core business units include Advanced Materials, Performance Products, Pigments, Polyurethanes, and Textile Effects.
Following the divestment of its commodity businesses, Huntsman has become less dependant on volatile crude oil-based raw materials and more leveraged to products where it can capitalize on its technology, global marketing and low cost of manufacturing. The company has put in place a three year plan to restructure and integrate the Textile Effects businesses of Ciba.
Investment in technology will be an important part of Huntsman’s strategy as it believes that not only does it provide a means of growth in future applications but it is also producing better chemistry that will replace older formulations. Huntsman will continue to increase its capacity of products that use non crude oil based raw materials, while also decreasing its energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
Huntsman has around 11,000 employees and had sales of over $9bn in 2010.
