Lubrizol is a specialty chemical company involved in specialty additives for lubricating oils as well as additives, including surfactants and defoaming agents, for paints, inks, greases, metalworking, and other industrial markets. The company is organised into two business segments: lubricant additives (Lubrizol Additives) and specialty chemicals and materials (Lubrizol Advanced Materials including Noveon). 
The key goal for Lubrizol has been to make it one of the world’s largest and profitable specialty chemical companies. Lubrizol plans to meet that goal by introducing new products, expanding to new locations, improving costs and productivity, and acquiring companies.
Its key strategic focus to achieve top line and earnings growth includes driving organic growth and product innovation, new products and new applications. The company will also focus on selective acquisitions either in specialty chemicals or industrial fluids, complementing Lubrizol’s existing business lines.
In 2008, Lubrizol had approximately 6,970 employees at 34 facilities in 20 countries with headquarters in Wickliffe, Ohio, US, and sales of $5bn.
