Nova Chemicals is a focused commodity chemical company, producing ethylene/polyethylene and expandable polystyrene in the US and Canada.
Nova Chemicals is divided into two business units: Olefins/Polyolefins and Performance Styrenics.
In May 2012, Nova Chemicals stated that it intends to sell its Performance Styrenics business to PFB. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2012. After closing, Nova will acquire an equity stake in PFB.
On 6 July 2009, International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) completed the acquisition of Nova Chemicals.

Nova Chemicals with headquarters in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, had revenues of $5.2bn in 2011.
